Amazing Red Carpet Moments in 2009

In fashion, Film, Red Carpets, Starlets, Young Hollywood on December 31, 2009 at 1:40 am
Cameron Diaz in Chanel at the 66th Golden Globes

Ahhhh, another year has gone by and 2009 is coming to a close.  This was a year of fabulous couture and showstopper red carpets, big and small. With an inaugural year under our belts, Celebgawking is proud to say that we’ve watched our favorite celebutantes & stylistas for a year now. Keep a look out for 2010 and the beginning of Awards Show season when we take a trip down the red carpet all over again.

Who is your favorite femme fatale? Here ar a few of our top picks in some of their very best moments this year.

Freida Pinto not only shot to super stardom with Slumdog Millionaire success but she also became a fashion darling in 2009.  Setting new trends at film premieres, award shows and front row on the runway, Freida gave new meaning to “It” gal of the year.  Here she is at the Chanel Autumn/Winter show at Grand Palais during Paris Fashion Week wearing Chanel of course.

At the Bafta/LA Britania Awards in Valentino.

Last but not least, Freida in a pale blue Marchesa gown.

Gisele Bunchden with hubby Tom Brady in NYC for the MET Costume Gala: Model & the Muse.

Lauren Conrad at her “L.A. Candy’ book launch party in 3.1 Phillip Lim

And she didn’t disappoint at the 6th Annual Style Awards wearing a Mara Hoffman Spring 2010 dress

Kate Winslet at the 2009 Oscars  in YSL and as usual, Kate always looks gorgeous.

Reese Witherspoon in a fab frock by Rodarte at the Monsters vs. Aliens “Blue Carpet’

Only Eva Longoria could pull of this skin-tight gown by Reem Acra

Kristen Stewart pulled out all the stops for the LA premier of New Moon. The Oscar De La Renta gown was out of the ordinary for Stewart, who normally prefers shorter hemlines and converse to couture and Jimmy Choo.

Megan Fox may have received the worst acting award for her performance in this summer’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen but we loved this purple number by Donna Karan.

Taylor Swift not only swept the CMA’s this year but was a vision in sequined gown by Kaufman Franco.

Blake Lively had so many amazing looks this year but this was one of our favs in red Versace at this year’s Emmy Awards in LA.

Taylor Swift had an incredible year and celebrated more than one red carpet in sequins and sparkles.

We wanted to applaud Miley Cyrus for stepping out of the box with this incredible Dsquared2 gown on the red carpet at the 2009 VH1 Diva Show in NYC.

With so many Kardashians, it’s hard to pick just one gal. But Kourtney rocked this dress while preggars…

Heidi Klum at the 81st Academy Awards Show

Sophia Bush and Kim Kardashian are ebony &  ivory lovely.

Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion was the theme of the Costume Institute Gala at the MET this year. The model mania began with Kate Moss, a co-host to year,  who arrived on the arm of Marc Jacobs. As one of the most glamourous and highly anticipated fashion events of the year, this is a red carpet is harder to navigate than Anna Wintour’s blackberry. This year Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Kate Bosworth, Madonna and Victoria Beckham were just a handful of hopefuls to get entry into the super glam party that kicks off the Costume Institute’s Goddess exhibit. . So who got the worst and best dressed awards last night? See for yourelf. Here’s a few looks that caught our eye for your viewing pleasure.

In The Devila Wears Prada it was  Meryl Streep, but in real life it’s Anna Wintour. Here she is in the flesh wearing Chanel Couture.

A little disappointed in this ensemble on Karolina Kurkova wearing a dress by Richard Chai. If anyone has a body to flaunt a unique and interesting dress it’s this gal.

victoriabeckham Victoria Beckham, a vision of heavy tanning and in polka dots by Louis Vuitton.

It’s Leonardo DiCaprio’s girl, Bar Refaeli in Marchesa. We love Marchesa. We like this dress. We like it alot. evamendes

Our favorite newlyweds Tom Brady & Gisele Bundchen looking utterly gorgeous in Versace in our favorite color…blue!

madonna Bizarre, weird, random. Call it what you will, we have to give Madonna points for originality wearing this interesting choice by Louis Vuitton.

LA Fashion Week & Celeb-inspired trends for Spring

In Uncategorized on March 23, 2009 at 12:11 am

There’s Paris, there’s Milan and of course who can forget the tents at Bryant Park in New York City? But what about L.A. Fashion Week?  Many disregard L.A .Fashion Week altogether and some wonder if it’s slowly fading. L.A. Fashion Week may not have the heavy hitters like Anna Wintour but it does bring out a gaggle of glitz and glamour from the celebs who know a thing or two about cleaning up nicely. Even in a recession, Hollywood managed to pull out all the stops this year with an eco-fashion event and an evening of 20th Century Glamour at MOCA. The end of fashion week also marks the beginning of new celeb-inspired looks. Here’s a few iconic style-charged favorites from prim and proper to provocative.

Nicole Richie at Evening of 20th Century Glamour at MOCA

Nicole Richie at Evening of 20th Century Glamour at MOCA

Soon to be mother of two Nicole Ritchie may be busy with daughter Harlow, rocker-daddy Joe Madden and her budding new jewelry line House of Harlow. Yet somehow Ritchie still finds time to rock her signature Bohemian style with this one-shouldered Zandra Rhodes Kaftan.

Nicky Hilton and one oversized accessory

Nicky Hilton and one oversized accessory

Sure black can get boring  but Nicky Hilton shows us how darling accessories can do the opposite. The oversized rosette/flower popping from one shoulder and the Jimmy Choo’s adorning those stems keep her far from ordinary.

Kim Kardashian shopping on Sunset Blvd

Kim Kardashian shopping on Sunset Blvd

This week we caught the Keeping up with the Kardashian star strolling the high end shops of Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood. No one loves shopping more than Kim Kardashian. Here’s our favorite E!  reality star pulling together several trends at once with a classic Chanel  bag, skinny/ripped jeans, oversize glasses and a funky scarf.

Kristen Stewart in Herve Leger

Kristen Stewart in Herve Leger

We loved Twilight and we love Kristen Stewart, who shows off her fun side in this striped Herve Leger dress in this season’s popular color, orange! Bold stripes and colors with a super short hemline are great for the more adventurous types.

Jessica Alba at indie drama premiere of Sugar

Jessica Alba at indie drama premiere of Sugar

Shedding the baby fat for Jessica Alba was a breeze and nothing shows off a great bod better than a geometric print cinched at the waist with a great belt. This Miu Miu top and vintage clutch above are classy and fun without being boring.

We have never seen Vanessa Hudgens dress like crap

We have never seen Vanessa Hudgens dress like crap

Not everyone can pull off skinny jeans but tween star Vanessa Hudgens sure can. We’re happy that the off the shoulder look keeps reappearing as it does here in Vanessa’s Bohemian-inspired  top by Diane von Furstenberg.

Angie Harmon ready for summer

Angie Harmon ready for summer

Haven’t shed that winter weight? Is it hot and need to get glammed up? A sundress is a great way to look pulled together when your feeling anything but glam. Orange is a popular color this season so try to incorporate it with bold stripes like this Chanel  number worn by Angie Harmon.

Audrina Patridge at premiere of I Love You Man

Hills star Audrina Patridge rocks one of celebgawkings favorite colors (navy blue) with this rocker-chic Whitley Kross ensemble that is part sweet with ruffles and strapless bodice but also short enough to make it edgy.

Julia Roberts promoting her new film Duplicity

Julia Roberts proves that being a mother doesn’t mean you have to go from fab to frumpy. Here she is in the furthest thing from mom jeans, looking extra tiny with a cinched belt and three quarter inch sleeves.

Rose McGown at an LA Fashion Week event for Decades
Rose McGowan at LA Fashion Week

Orange you glad to see Rose McGowan out of black and into something bright? The designer that got Rose McGowan out of black threads? Loris Azzaro. We think Rose looked stunning in this simple orange dress.

Lauren Conrad unrolling her favorite trends for her Spring collection

Lauren Conrad unrolling her favorite trends for her Spring collection

We’re sad to see Lauren Conrad leave The Hills and that her clothing line is taking a hiatus. Here’s a few shots from her
Spring collection, which epitomize California-chic style at it’s best. Floral prints seem to be making a comeback. Flirty ruffles and short hemlines make a sweet dress demure. Long and flowy is also a signature of LC’s collection and as we see above, one of Lauren’s favorites. We hope her line comes back!
Demi Moore looking demure....

Yellow never looked so good. Mrs. Ashton Kutcher hit the 2009 Miami International Film Festival to screen her short film “Streak” and looked radiant and very South Beach-esque in this yellow dress and strappy heels.

Lauren Conrad leaving The Hills

A bitterseet goodbye to LClaurenconradlacandybook

The end of an era all wrapped up in a book deal…..

bookcoverA few weeks ago, Celebgawking was anxiously anticipating March 30th. What is this you ask? This is the day when season five of  The Hills returns.  Something about seeing the visual skyline of Los Angeles with an MTV-driven sountrack crooning in the background and shots of Lauren Conrad galavanting around hotspots like Les Deux and driving down Melrose in her black, convertible BMW was almost, well, comforting.  Each espisode created new undying questions that had to be answered. How many Chanel bags can LC have in one episode? What skintight ensemble will Heidi don today? What fab outfit will Whitney Port and LC be wearing while slaving away at their People’s Revolution gigs? But the real reason that The Hills is great is because of Lauren Conrad. Sure, we love the dizzying cinematography and aerial shots of the Hollywood Hills and the does of cat-fight drama  provided in every episode.  But Lauren Conrad is the girl we are always rooting for. Much like Carrie in Sex and the City, Lauren’s wanderlust hope for tried and true friends, a great job and the man of her dreams is what we’ve watched her search for day in and day out. But alas, a bittersweet ending to our favorite reality gal has come to an end. Season five will be a final  farewell for LC. Here’s a salute to some of our favorite Lauren Conrad looks.  Oh and one more thing to look forward to-her new book, LA. Candy, is due in June.

LC Style & The District Part 2

In Uncategorized on February 10, 2009 at 2:30 pm

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Last week celebgawking showed you Newsweek’s hilarious spoof on MTV’s The City & The Hills with The District. Episode 2 was released yesterday by NTV with another satirical look at MTV’s most popular reality drama. Maybe it’s the glossy lives that LC and Whitney Port lead, running around town looking carefree, over sized sunglasses perched on their cute little noses as they jump in and out of one fabulous hot spot to another. All the while working incredibly tough schedules at People’s Revolution & Diane von Furstenberg. For celebgawking it’s the outfits that we love so much. What will LC wear today? How does she pull off every outfit flawlessly? Here’s Lauren Conrad below, looking absolutely fabulous and West Coast casual chic. Sporting lots of her signature accessory, Chanel.

Cameron Diaz in Chanel Couture

Celebgawking is loving the bright colors found on Hollywood A-list ladies during the red carpet mania of awards season. Black is a familiar staple but we thought it might be nice to get some inspiration from the women who are draped in some of our favorite designer threads. Celebgawking loves, loves, loves navy blue but is trying to venture beyond the “safe” colors and think of a  new signature shade for Spring. Cameron Diaz dazzled in Chanel Couture,  Anne Hathaway was sophisticated elegance in Armani Prive and Freida Pinto is the only gal who can pull of Christian Lacroix  in mustard yellow.  Green was eye-catching on Christina Applegate who wore  Emanuel Ungaro  and yellow popped on Viola Davis in David Meister.

Recession or not, the show must go on and The Hollywood Foreign Association put on it’s biggest show of the year last night with the 66th Annual Golden Globes. The Beverly Hills Hilton has hosted the star-studded event for the past 35 years and all the heavy hitters came out to play and dressed in their best threads of course. In a sea of Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel everyone always looks smashing but a handful really stick out from the rest.

Olivia Wilde in Reem Acra

Olivia Wilde in Reem Acra

For those of you who love fashion then you know this is a make it or break it event for designers to show off their couture by dressing some of Hollywood’s most famous faces. The over the shoulder style is still going strong along with bold and neutral colors and a comeback for ruffles. Black was the safe choice for Susan Sarandon in Hugo Boss tuxedo jacket. Reem Acra ruled the night with three different high profile ladies wearing this designer. Eva Longoria was ravishing in a tight, red gown by Reem Acra.  Olivia Wilde also wore a Reem Acra creation and looked absolutely divine in a ruffled, lavendar gown. Last but certainly not least was  a very grown up Rumer Willis in a purple, strapless Reem Acra.

Jennifer Morrison and Amy Adams both donned Oscar De La Renta and Christina Applegate took your breath away in a yellow strapless Roberto Cavalli. Eva Mendes was a model of beauty in a floor length, off white Dior complete with bows and ruffles and the most amazing turqoise blue necklace I have ever laid my eyes on.

Drew Barrymore epitomized old school glamour in a grey off the shoulder John Galliano gown and big, sexy hair and Sandra Bullock wore a dress by Dior described as ‘vanilla’ by E! host Ryan Seacrest. Cameron Diaz of course pulling off an almost impossible color-pink! But it is Chanel Haute Couture and it is Cameron Diaz.

I loved the unique and bold print of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s gown by Lanvin and Debra Mesing’s Zac Posen. Jennifer Lopez was flawless in a plunging, gold gown by Marchesa and Hayden Panettiere was grown up in a beaded Gianfranco Ferre.
